The RTA Transmedia Zone develops new insights, analysis, models, and practices for content-creators across this emerging network.

Media production in the 21st century is an evolving web of industries, technologies, production modes, and relationship and content strategies.  The RTA Transmedia Centre develops new insights, analysis, models, and practices for content-creators across this emerging network.  With a unique emphasis on public/private partnerships, bringing together communities of practice across academia, industry, and the arts, the Centre explores the opportunities offered by the convergence of media practices in three target areas: content creation, audience relationships, and emergent business models. With its state-of-the-art production facilities and audience lab, the Centre produces prototypes, analysis, and models to help share our understanding of the industry.

The recently founded Advanced Manufacturing, Design and 3D Printing Lab focuses on advancing cloud-based manufacturing, control systems, and tangible interfaces.

The Advanced Manufacturing, Design and -3D-Printing Lab is one of Canada’s most technologically advanced 3D-printing research facilities and home to one of just three EOS P395 printers in the country. It is a shared space founded with industry partners, Think2Thing and Bionik Labs.

The leading-edge research at the Advanced Manufacturing, Design and 3D-Printing Lab explores new techniques for scanning and 3D printing as well as the systems and software to support them. Designers from all sectors are using this technology to accelerate prototyping, and manufacturers and makers are producing components and products with exceptional precision.

Our researchers and partners are leveraging these resources to incorporate the next generation of advanced controls and context-aware technology into wearable technology.
